Do I Need a Visa for Georgia?

June 10, 2026

Georgia grants visa-free entry to citizens of most countries. Russians, Ukrainians, Belarusians, Kazakhs, Armenians, EU nationals, Americans, British, Israelis, and many others can enter without a visa. For most of these nationalities, the visa-free stay is 365 days within any 12-month period. Citizens of some countries are limited to 90 days.

Do I Need a Visa for Georgia?

For nationals of countries that do require a visa, there are two options: an electronic visa through the official portal evisa.gov.ge, or a visa obtained through a Georgian consulate. The current list of visa-required countries and entry conditions is published on the Georgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs website at mfa.gov.ge.

Do Russians need a visa for Georgia?

No. Russian citizens can enter Georgia without a visa and stay up to 365 days within a single 12-month period.

Do Ukrainians need a visa for Georgia?

No. Ukrainian citizens also enter visa-free for up to 365 days.

Can I extend my visa-free stay?

There is no formal extension for visa-free status. Leaving Georgia for any neighboring country and re-entering resets the counter and starts a new visa-free period. If you plan to stay long term, applying for a residence permit is worth considering.

What happens if I overstay?

Overstaying without a valid reason results in an administrative fine. A temporary ban on re-entry is also possible.

Where can I find the current list of visa-free countries?

On the official Georgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs website: mfa.gov.ge. Entry conditions are reviewed periodically, so check before traveling.
