The set of forms depends on the company's industry and size. Typical sections cover: headcount and payroll, production and sales volumes, and capital investment. Most companies report annually; for larger enterprises some forms are required quarterly. The obligation to submit data arises when Geostat sends the company a written request, including to the email address listed in the Registry of Entrepreneurs. For a company selected for a survey, participation is mandatory.

What the Law on Official Statistics says
The current Law of Georgia on Official Statistics entered into force on 30 August 2023. Companies' obligations are set out in Article 25.

In practice the deadline starts running once the letter reaches the address in the registry, even if nobody opens it. So the email address in the Registry of Entrepreneurs should be current and someone should be checking it.
Data confidentiality
Data that can directly or indirectly identify a company is confidential. It may be used only for producing statistics, and the law prohibits disclosing it or using it for other purposes (Article 34). Individual data may be published only with the company's written consent.

Who is required to submit statistical reports in Georgia?

What are the consequences of not filing with Geostat?
Failure to file or missing a deadline results in an administrative fine. The amount is set by Georgian administrative offences legislation.
Does a dormant company still need to file statistical reports?
Yes, in most cases. The obligation to submit a nil report remains in place. We recommend verifying the specific set of forms applicable to your company.
How do we find out which forms apply to our company?
Geostat notifies companies about their applicable forms, but the list can also be checked in the personal account on geostat.ge using the activity code and company indicators. We carry out this check as part of the reporting preparation process.

Does paying a fine release the company from filing?
No. Under Article 25 of the Law of Georgia on Official Statistics, administrative liability does not release the company from the obligation to submit the data. Geostat may contact the company again if the data is late or contains errors.
Can Geostat pass company data to the tax authority or other bodies?
The law prohibits disclosing confidential statistical data or using it for non-statistical purposes. Data that can identify a company is used only for producing official statistics (Article 34 of the Law on Official Statistics).
